What is Dead of Darkness 2?

Dead of Darkness 2 is the direct sequel to Retrofiction Games’ 2025 survival horror Dead of Darkness. It is an isometric 2D game that pairs hand-drawn pixel art with 90s anime-inspired cutscenes, and it is built by a solo developer. It is not a new entry of the unrelated game The Darkness II — see Dead of Darkness 2 vs The Darkness II if you landed here by mistake.

What is the story about?

The official description sets the game in Pennsylvania, 1985. Jun Takehara lives in a trailer in the Appalachians. After finding a wounded little girl in the woods, she and her friend Felton are pulled into a nightmare in the town of Goldren Creek. What features are confirmed?

The Steam page lists five headline features: a cast of 28 characters, switching between up to three playable characters in certain sections with a shared item box, scarce ammo and healing items with weight-based inventory management, a weapon range from knives and axes to submachine guns and flamethrowers, and clue-driven exploration and puzzles.
